MemeCore, the world’s first Layer 1 blockchain purpose-built for Meme 2.0, has announced the successful conclusion of Memekathon Seoul 2025: Hack2Meme, Hack2Core, held from 22 November to 13 December 2025. The event drew strong participation, bringing together 68 teams and more than 160 developers, highlighting growing interest in meme-native infrastructure and culture-driven Web3 ecosystems.
The hackathon marked a key milestone for MemeCore as it continues laying the groundwork for long-term ecosystem growth. Positioned as a Culture Chain built around internet memes and community creativity, MemeCore aims to integrate DeFi and SocialFi into a unified framework that turns cultural engagement into sustainable on-chain value.
Reflecting this vision, Memekathon Seoul featured two core tracks: DeFi & MemeFi, and SocialFi & InfoFi. These tracks represent the foundational pillars MemeCore is prioritising as it builds a utility-driven ecosystem where financial primitives and social interactions reinforce one another.
Team Arkhe won the Hackathon Grand Prize for developing a one-click DLMM DEX that simplifies liquidity provisioning for meme token pairs. Their solution automatically optimises LP strategies while rewarding active meme communities through virality-based fee boosts. Meanwhile, Team Show me the stM took home the Ideathon Grand Prize with a SocialFi model that converts social engagement—such as content likes—into on-chain incentives, which are then partially burned to support a circular, sustainable economy.
In total, US$100,000 in prizes and ecosystem grants were awarded, including hackathon and ideathon prizes, track awards, and long-term ecosystem grants for teams demonstrating sustained potential. Following the Seoul edition, MemeCore plans to expand the Memekathon series to other APAC markets and the United States, further engaging global developer communities and accelerating adoption of its meme-native Layer 1 ecosystem.
